It is one of the most common requests we get: “I'd like a Windows 10 VPS” or “do you offer Windows 11?”. The short answer is no, and it is not a commercial choice on the host's side. Here is why, and why it changes almost nothing for what you want to do.
1. What Microsoft licensing actually says
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are desktop editions, sold under a licence meant for a workstation used by one person. That licence does not allow a hosting provider to install the system on shared hardware and rent it out to customers.
Hosting providers license Windows through a dedicated programme, the Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA), which covers Windows Server and not the desktop editions. A provider renting you a “Windows 10 VPS” by the month is therefore operating outside that framework: the service can disappear overnight, or your activation can stop working.
This is not a technical limitation. Windows 10 would run perfectly well in a virtual machine. It is purely a matter of usage rights.
2. What about Windows 7, 8.1 and 10?
The same rule applies to every desktop edition, older ones included. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 add a second problem: Microsoft no longer ships security updates for them, so a machine exposed to the internet through Remote Desktop would be an easy target. Windows 10 itself reached the end of its support in October 2025. Even where these versions are still offered, avoid them for a server.
3. Why Windows Server instead
Windows Server is the edition designed to be hosted and rented. It shares the same core as the desktop editions, the same graphical interface and the same application compatibility. Our Windows VPS run Windows Server 2019 or 2022, with the licence included in the price and activated automatically at deployment.
4. What actually changes for you
In practice, someone who connects over Remote Desktop to Windows Server finds a familiar environment: the same desktop, the same File Explorer, the same browser, the same shortcuts.
- Your software works: MetaTrader, browsers, bots, .NET tools, business applications.
- Remote Desktop is identical, with the same RDP client from Windows, macOS or Linux.
- The interface is very close: a few settings differ, nothing that gets in the way of everyday use.
- Stability is better: Windows Server is built to run continuously, and you decide when updates restart the machine.
The rare cases where a desktop edition is really needed involve consumer software that explicitly refuses to install on a server system. That has become very uncommon.
5. Windows Server 2019 or 2022: which one?
Pick Windows Server 2022 by default: it is the most recent version we offer, the best secured and the one that will stay supported the longest. Choose 2019 only if a piece of software explicitly requires it. You can switch at any time by reinstalling from your customer area, at no cost.
On sizing, Windows Server alone uses about 1.5 to 2 GB of memory. Plan on 4 GB for light Remote Desktop use and 8 GB as soon as you run real applications. Our Windows VPS start at €2.99 a month with 2 GB, which suits a bot or a light script. If your project does not need Windows at all, a Linux NVMe VPS is lighter and cheaper for the same work.
6. In short
No, there is no legitimate offer of a VPS running Windows 10 or Windows 11: Microsoft's licences do not allow it for rented hosting, and Windows 10 is out of support anyway. Windows Server 2019 and 2022 fill the same role, with the same Remote Desktop, the same software and better stability. Be wary of offers that promise a desktop edition: the problem is not technical, it is contractual, and you are the one who bears the consequences.
