Reverse Proxy FiveM - Anti-DDoS gaming, IP masking and quick setup

Stop letting DDoS attacks break your FiveM server

Host your FiveM server on an NVHCloud VPS and get 200 Tbps Gcore mitigation included, applied directly at network level. No reverse proxy, no extra hop, no origin address to keep secret.

Protected VPS or reverse proxy: why we made the call

A reverse proxy was long the default answer for shielding a game server: put an intermediary in front, filter the traffic there. In practice that approach carries three limits that directly protected hosting simply does not have.

1. An extra network hop, therefore latency

With a proxy, your players' traffic takes a detour before reaching your server. In a game where responsiveness matters, that detour costs milliseconds. When protection is applied by the network already hosting the machine, there is no extra journey at all.

2. The origin address stays a weak point

A proxy only protects while your server's real address stays secret. That address leaks easily: an old DNS record, a third-party script, a console screenshot. The day it does, an attacker simply bypasses the proxy and hits the machine directly. With a protected VPS there is no hidden address to preserve, because the protection covers the public address itself.

3. Two providers, two invoices, two support desks

During an incident, working out whether the problem sits with the proxy or the host wastes precious time. With a single solution there is one contact and one technical chain to diagnose.

Our decision

We no longer sell a reverse proxy. Gcore protection is now included directly on our VPS plans, which delivers a better result for less than a two-part setup.

Plans for hosting a protected FiveM server

Every range includes the same Gcore mitigation, NVMe storage and hosting in France for low latency.

NVMe VPS

The default choice for a FiveM server: high-frequency CPUs, NVMe storage and guaranteed resources, from a small community to a busy RP server.

Why FiveM servers are targeted so often

Roleplay communities compete for the same players, and that competition spills over. Add banned players looking for payback and opportunistic attacks launched from services anyone can rent for a few euros. No technical skill is required, which is why these attacks are so common.

Taking the server down is not even the usual goal: saturating the link is enough for ping to spike and players to drop out on their own. A server that is unplayable on a peak evening permanently loses part of its community.

Frequently asked questions

Do you still offer a reverse proxy for DDoS protection?
No. We chose to concentrate protection where it works best: directly on our VPS, at network level. Gcore mitigation is included on every plan, which removes the extra hop a proxy introduces along with its drawbacks.
Why is a protected VPS better than a reverse proxy?
A reverse proxy adds an intermediary between your players and your server: that means an extra network hop and therefore latency, and your origin server stays reachable if its address leaks. With a protected VPS, filtering is native to the network hosting the machine: no detour, no origin address to hide, and a single contact if something goes wrong.
Is DDoS protection included or billed as an option?
It is included on all our VPS plans, with no surcharge and nothing to enable. Filtering is permanent: it does not wait for the first attack to be put in place.
Does the protection add latency for my players?
No. Filtering happens on the network hosting your machine, with profiles tuned for online gaming. Unlike a solution routing traffic through a third party, there is no additional detour.
Will my server be null-routed during an attack?
No. Many hosts use blackholing, meaning they make your IP unreachable to protect their own network, which effectively takes your service offline. We do the opposite: malicious traffic is filtered and legitimate traffic keeps flowing.
Which plan should I pick for a FiveM server?
An NVMe VPS suits most FiveM servers. If you run several game servers and want a preinstalled panel, the Pterodactyl VPS fits better. Protection is identical and included either way.
What is a FiveM proxy?
A FiveM proxy, or reverse proxy, is a machine placed in front of your server: players connect to its address, and it relays traffic to the real server, whose address stays hidden. It is a useful protection when your host does not filter attacks itself. On our VPS, filtering already happens at network level, which makes that detour unnecessary.
Can I run my own FiveM proxy on an NVHCloud VPS?
Yes. A VPS gives you full root access, so you can install a relay in front of a server hosted elsewhere. You then need to declare the relay's address range in sv_proxyIPRanges on the FiveM side, and check the Cfx.re documentation for the exact behaviour of your build.
How do I protect a FiveM server against DDoS attacks?
The most effective step is to host it on a network that filters attacks permanently, without waiting for them to start: that is the case on all our VPS, with Gcore mitigation included. Add good server-side practice: an up-to-date txAdmin, administration ports closed to the public, and an IP address that is not shared needlessly.
