How to read these figures
- Under 10 ms (London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam): excellent for Expert Advisors and manual trading, suitable for most strategies.
- Around 80 to 90 ms (New York, Chicago): fine for a robot trading on timeframes of a few minutes or more, less suited to very short scalping.
- Over 150 ms (Asia, South Africa, South America): choose a server close to your broker if your strategy is sensitive to delay.
- To find where your broker's server is, check the latency shown at the bottom right of MetaTrader once it is connected on the VPS.
How these figures are measured
From a server in our Paris network, we send 20 pings to a public measurement point in each city and record the minimum, average and maximum round-trip time. These points are not the brokers' servers themselves: the real latency to your broker depends on the exact location of its server, but stays in the same range as its city. Measurements go through our Anti-DDoS protection, like our customers' traffic.
